The History of the Town of Addison

Founded in 1884, the Town of Addison Webster Springs, West Virginia offers a rich history of small town American charm.. Incorporated in 1892 and named in honor of Addison McGlaughin who donated the land for the County Court house. Since 1902 the town has been known by its postal address which is Webster Springs
Situated in central West Virginia, Webster Springs was incorporated in 1889 by private incorporation. This private incorporation was ratified by the West Virginia Secretary of State. Since its establishment, Webster Springs has developed into an independent municipality with a mayor-council form of government. The seven-member town council is charged with the governance of the local municipality. The council is responsible for enacting laws, setting regulations, and providing oversight for the Municipality. Webster Springs is a thriving community with attractive buildings, a diverse economy, and a strong sense of pride among the citizens. This rich history has preserved the beauty and lessons of the past for the benefit of future generations..
